A soccer clinic will
be held at Wheeling Jesuit University on Monday July 11-July 15. This day clinic will be held simultaneously with the
residential Bethany Soccer Camp. The instruction and camp activities will
be supervised by the Bethany Soccer Camp staff.
The camp is open to all youth players and high school players from the local area. The philosophy of
the camp staff is to provide soccer instruction appropriate to each age group, to teach basic team tactics, and to play games. Participation in group activities, soccer drills, small-sided games, and soccer matches
will be important to a successful camp for the players.
Bethany Soccer Camps have been instructing youth players for over 33 years, offering excellent instruction,
and maintaining a philosophy that the players have fun while they learn and play.
The coaching staff will be under the direction of John Cunningham, founder of Bethany Soccer Camps
and legendary college coach. The Bethany Soccer Camp staff includes high schoool collegiate, youth coaches with
experience in coaching recreational, and "travel" players.
Meeting Area
Clinic campers will report to and depart from the Alma Grace McDonough Center recreation complex.
Equipment
Each player should bring a soccer ball, shoes, shinguards and a water bottle. A gym bag is
good for carrying things to and from the fields, and a jacket or sweater is recommended in case of rain or cold weather.
First Aid and safety
First aid will be available for minor injuries. Likewise, water and ice will be provided at
the fields.
