John Cunningham - Camp Director
For the 33rd consecutive year, Coach Cunningham is conducting these camps with the main objective of developing
youth soccer in the United States. He is the former Head Coach of the Bethany Men’s Soccer team. In Cunningham’s 33 years at the helm of
Bethany, his teams won the 1994 National Championship, 1995 and 1997 ECAC Championships, 1996 Mid- Atlantic Championship,
participated in 17 NCAA tournaments, 28 President’s Athletic Conference titles, and produced 51 All-Americans. While
Head Coach, Bethany soccer was recognized for having one of the highest winning percentages of any college during the 1980s
and 1990s, further testimony to Coach Cunningham’s philosophy… “Tradition of Excellence.”
Frank Christy - Camp Coordinator
Along with Cunningham, Frank developed Bethany Soccer Camps into one of the most successful and influential
programs in the nation. Thirty four years and counting, Frank's innovative approach to the week-long structure has long
been well-accepted by the coaching staff and thousands of players who have attended Bethany Soccer Camps. A Fox Chapel
High School and Bethany College Athletic Hall of Famer, Frank has more wins than any active coach in girls high school soccer
in Pennsylvania, with close to 400 wins. His current coaching stint at Hampton High School ranks fifth among ninety-five
teams for overall winning percentage in Western Pennsylvania.
Frankie Taal
Frankie was a member of the Bethany’s 1994 National Championship Team. A native of Banjul, The Gambia, Frankie has
international exposure to soccer and coaches with an international flair. An excellent coach of skill and tactics, Frankie
is the Assistant Coach at North Carolina Wesleyan, NCAA Division III top 16 in 2006 and a number 2 National Ranking in 2007.
Jim Regan
Head Coach of the Men’s Soccer team at Wheeling Jesuit University, Jim is from Northern Ireland via Toronto, Canada,
holds an Irish Soccer Federation Badge, and is very active in NCAA Soccer. Coach Regan enters his 23rd season
as head coach of the Cardinals. During these years , Jim has elevated his teams to national prominence, with a top twenty
ranking in 2003 and an Elite Eight appearance in the NCAA Division II National Tournament. Jim is an outstanding coach
and has been a mainstay with Bethany Soccer Camps for more than 20 years.
Eric Fries
Excellent teacher and coach with youth, high school, and collegiate players. Eric has excellent skills and the
ability to teach them, thus the honor of West Virginia Coach of the Year. He is a member of the ’94 National Championship
Team and is currently coaching at the Linsly School and a Wheeling United travel
team.
Randy Shah
An international player (Canada and Trinadad) with outstanding creativity. Randy coaches at the Linsly School, and has wonderful
rapport with both male and female soccer players at all age levels. His 2007 squad won the OVAC Championship and he
coached the West Virginia "Player of the Year". Randy has coached with Bethany Soccer Camps and Clinics for six
years.
Carrie (Plute) Hanna
Head Women’s Coach at Wheeling Jesuit University. She earned All-American status while a player at WJU, and played professionally in
Germany. Under her direction, Wheeling Jesuit University women have a record
of 77–28–3, appeared in NCAA Division II tournaments, and won numerous Conference titles. Carrie is an excellent
player and coach.
